About This Event
CENTRAL CALIFORNIA KOI SOCIETY 41st Annual KOI SHOW – September 28th – 29th, 2019 Location: Woodward Park – Group Activity Area, 114 W. Audubon Dr., Fresno, CA 93720 PRESS RELEASE Written By: Rosimeri Tran – Show Co-Chair The purpose of the 41st annual Central California Koi Society koi show is to encourage koi hobbyists to exhibit their koi and network with other koi hobbyists in the area so as to broaden their spectrum of the koi and their classification. There are several Judges that travel from outside of the Fresno area from various regions to come and judge the koi, this year the American Koi Judges Association will be represented by Senior Certified Judge, David Young of Tucson, Arizona as well as candidate judge, Gerald Ellison, of San Diego, California. Some of the things the judges look at are pattern, body conformation and size. There are some enormous sized koi that are exhibited and every year the koi get bigger and bigger. The koi are all competing for the Grand Champion trophy and once they receive that award they are eligible to compete in the AKCA Champion of Champions contest. We are excited to be at a new venue this year at Woodward Park, Group Activity Area, next to Shinzen Friendship Gardens. This year there will be food trucks, a kids zone, plenty of vendors to choose from pond and koi dealers, to arts and crafts, as well as celebrity, Eric Triplett of the Pond Digger series will be a vendor and available to talk pond with everyone. Some of the things that you will see at the 41st annual Central California Koi show are different varieties of koi ranging in size from small 4”-6” to the very large and in some cases jumbo size which is 30” and above. Also there are koi vendors here selling koi and pond products, several are traveling as far away as Los Angeles as well as from the Bay area, they will have products that you would not be able to buy here in Fresno. We will have an information booth set up where the public can stop by and ask questions regarding becoming a new member or any question relating to koi and their care. Also there will be a koi show booklet there showcasing our koi show and koi club. This is a great opportunity to join our club to learn more about koi and pond care. The Central California Koi Society (CCKS) was founded in 1978 in Fresno, California with the help of Duncan Water Gardens. The founding members were a group of Koi enthusiasts that came together to promote and enlarge the hobby of Koi keeping, breeding, and exhibiting Koi in the Fresno area. CCKS soon became a member of the parent club “Associated Koi Clubs of America” (AKCA). Today the AKCA is 104 registered individual Koi Clubs across America. The first CCKS Koi Shows were held at Duncan Water Gardens until the late 1980’s and since then we have always held an annual koi show, to help showcase this hobby. So if you are a koi hobbyist and would like to learn more about our koi club, then please stop by our information booth where we can answer your questions and we will have membership forms available along with our monthly newsletters. The koi show is free to attend so please save the date to come see some of the most beautiful koi competing for the top honor of Grand Champion. Bring the whole family out for this fun event; there is even a raffle for a chance to win a $250.00, $100.00 gift card or Apple Air Pods.
